Karin Roy Michelle Andersson

I grew up in Umeå where I was born in 1983. I studied the Natural Science Programme and was for a long time convinced that I would become a doctor but then a stumbled over the HDK webpage and read about jewellery art and from that day that’s all I want to do!Or, of course I want to do other things as well, eat good food, crosswords, maybe one day run a marathon… but, I’m sure you know what I mean –my passion is jewellery!
I like repetitions, I like small things, and I like putting many small things together, creating jewellery where the whole as well as the variations are important. The pieces always have some kind of story behind them. Sometimes it is not at all visible and the starting point often contains more humour than the jewellery express.
Nature and science is often a source of inspiration and I made my candidate work in 2007 about chaos theory and the search for hidden pattern, theorise that I can refer till in many of my works. A rhythm and a balance in a irregular pattern is something I always search for in my jewellery.
